Costa Rica Transportation
Driving in Costa Rica is an adventure by itself. For one, you will hardly find street signs, and addresses as most people are used to, do not exist. Thus, getting directions involves something along the lines of, from the Church, go 800m north, take a left at the mango tree, and then 200m past the fourth street lamp.
Likewise, roads are extremely narrow, continually curvy, and have a large amount of public transportation and motorcyclists zipping in between lanes, particularly in San Jose. That said, many do choose to drive and do navigate the country quite successfully as the lack of main roads and good signage to major attractions provides for few reduced opportunities to make a wrong turn.
For the less adventurous and more budget conscious, excellent transfer services from every major destination in Costa Rica can be arranged for $29 one-way.
