North Pacific Diving
Catalina Island
Catalina Island is a quick 8 mile boat ride away from the Flamingo coast line in Guanacaste. This volcanic rock formation along with almost 30 other great dive spots near it, provide a home to a large variety of underwater species. The Catalinas are famous for Giant Manta Rays, Bat Rays, Mobley, Spotted, Bull?s-eye and Stingrays as well as barracudas, white tip and tiger sharks, moray eels, sea turtles. December through April are considered to be the best months for diving, given that during this time period it is almost certain you will see schools of giant Mantas with wing spans of 12 ft to 20 ft swim by. You will find unique varieties of tropical fish found mainly in Costa Rica. Water temperature is usually in the mid 70s Fahrenheit and although visibility in the same spot may vary, it is usually 50 feet plus! There is no boat anchorage at some of the islets and one must descend immediately and away from the rocks. A checkout dive is not mandatory for this trip but recommended.  If you are planning to scuba dive in Costa Rica this is definitely a must dive spot!!

Bat Island
Thorough briefings are given on the one and a half hour boat tide to Bat Island. We only accept divers on this trip who have dived with us on previous occasions given the degree of experience required at this particular dive spot. Strong currents and surges are common.
Also because these dives allow for encounters with Bull Sharks, Black Tips and Tigers. We must certain of the level of diving for each individual in order to allow them to dive in this spot. The journey to the Bat Islands offers a chance to see turtles mating, flying fish, flipping rays, and very often Orcas, Humpback whales, and dolphins.  Strong winds in the early months of the year might prevent access to bat Islands.
The entry procedure at the Bat Island consist of a back roll and we descend straight to the bottom. Boats do not anchor at the dive sites at the Bats. Once we are at the bottom, at a depth of approximately 90 feet, we hover for up to 15 minutes and view the sharks. After this, divers continue along the ?wall? as the bottom gives way to a depth of 130 to 140 feet. If everyone is comfortable we will set the dive depth at 100 feet. The diving is out of this world and besides countless fish you can also expect to encounter bridges, caverns, coral and sponges.
